Space!

Space is one of my favorite theme weeks. Our space unit fell during the 5th week of school so most of these games are fairly simple since we were still learning how to play with others and learn the rules of Kindergarten!

We had been working on our color words, so my first game is a simple, roll and color game!

How to play: Each student gets a paper. Students share a color key and dice. Students roll the dice, look at the key and color the alien to match. Very simple game, this one was great for students who may have finished another game earlier and needed a quick game while waiting for classmates.

My kiddos LOVED this game!!! : ) It was so simple and we were able to play over and over!

How to play: Play this game in partners. (I don’t like to have more than 3 kids in a group.) Each student gets a rocket launch pad. They need one set of sight word cards with breakdown cards. Students pick a card, if they can read the card they put a unifix cube on the launch pad. If they can’t read the word, they ask their partner and put the card back. If they get a breakdown card they take a piece off their rocket ship. (They are just stacking unifix cubes vertically- it doesn’t really look like a rocket ship, but they looooovvveee it.)
